Sinyunn Tsiendzih Ven

Sinyunn Tsiendzih Ven, the ‘new rhyme Thousand Character Classic’, is a Chinese poem consisting of one thousand distinct characters divided into 250 lines of four characters. Composed by Dhyen Jiliong in 2007, it is a modern imitation of the Tsiendzih Ven, a poem acting as a basic material of literacy training in traditional China.

History

In a 2007 report, Dhyen, attributed as a literacy education expert, stated that in terms of reading efficiency, memorization speed, and character recognition, the classical pedagogy have advantages over modern preschool educational materials. Sinyunn, Dhyen’s yet upcoming publication, was given as an example.

The published Sinyunn is not so much a book as it is a set of one thousand cards with hints for children. Dhyen started Dyibutzuc Kindergarten (now Holoc Kindergarten) in Guangzhou in 2018. Except for Dhyen and layout of the kindergarten, the first 512 and last forty characters are available after Dhyen’s book was out of print.

负荆请罪，弃暗投明；惩恶劝善，激浊扬清。奉命唯谨，碧血丹心；举案齐眉，相敬如宾。
饱经忧患，残年暮井；盛衰荣辱，洞鉴废兴。

乌焦巴弓，淡饭粗茶；酸甜苦辣，勤俭持家。抽丝剥茧，想方设法；好问决疑，静观默察。
偷工减料，弄虚作假，参差错落，鱼龙混杂。随声附和，装疯卖傻；咬牙切齿，握拳透爪。
慷慨陈辞，从容应答；雅俗共赏，信笔涂鸦。

村夫野老，鹤发童颜；近朱者赤，青出于蓝。贪官污吏，尸位素餐；沽名钓誉，姑息养奸。
狼吞虎咽，口燥唇干；添油加醋，胡搅蛮缠。阴谋诡计，两败俱伤；兽聚鸟散，燕雀处堂。

饮水思源，感恩戴德；优游卒岁，对酒当歌。断章取义，照本宣科；数典忘祖，空中楼阁。
欺软怕硬，尖嘴薄舌；貌合神离，同室操戈。守株待兔，打草惊蛇；仓皇失措，泥船渡河。

乞哀告怜，奔走呼号；嬉皮笑脸，点头哈腰。夏炉冬扇，往返徒劳；拔苗助长，亡羊补牢。
事倍功半，付诸洪乔；灰飞烟灭，瓦解冰销。
