Quasi-word

The term quasi-word is proposed by Kanamozikai.

漢字をふたつ以上組み合わせると、一見、立派なコトバのようなものが簡単にできてしまうので、そういうものが安易に作られてきました。が、その多くは、どういう字で書くのか分からなければ意味を取ることができない、話しことばでは通じない、「コトバもどき」とでもいうべきものです。そして、同音異義語になることも少なくないので、意味の取り違えもおこります。（やまとコトバやカタカナ語＝ヨーロッパ語系外来語)にも同音異義語はありますが、おおかた文脈から推しはかることができます。）

Combining two or more characters easily produces what at first glance appears to be a respectable word, so such characters have been created with ease. However, many of these words cannot be understood in the spoken language without knowing what characters are used to write them, so they should be called ‘quasi-words’. Many of them are homonyms, which can lead to misunderstandings. (Homonyms are also found in native and katakana (European foreign) words, but they can usually be deduced from the context.)
