Cuh Srem
Cuh Srem, nicknamed Matrix67, is from Chongqing and graduated from
Peking University with a major in Applied Linguistics. In high school,
he won the second prize of NOI in Chongqing No. 8 High School and was
therefore admitted to Peking University. However, because he was in the
liberal arts class (presumably because there were ‘beautiful girls’), he was assigned to the above
major, which shows how relaxed the policy was at that time. After
graduation, he quickly settled in Beijing and lived a comfortable life
as a tutor. During a year off from school at Peking University and after
graduation, he served as a columnist and project leader for Guokr. He
has a math blog, some of which was later compiled into two best-selling
books. He married his classmate localhost:8080 and has two
sons.
Matrix67 is positioned as a math enthusiast, and his teaching also
emphasizes thinking. This may help parents be willing to pay, after all,
thinking varies from person to person and is difficult to verify, but
the actual effect may be limited. Students can give Teacher Cuh a good
evaluation as long as they can meet their social needs (not to mention
that avoiding the truth and killing time with games is the norm in
tutoring industry, exemplified by Liu).
Matrix67’s math articles focus on fun math, such as fun questions,
diagrams, and wordless proofs. He was criticized that these contents are
far from the normal mathematics and are not helpful for people who
need mathematics. (There are similar comments for 3Blue1Brown
later than Cuh) In fact, this mathematics ‘enthusiast’ in public
discourse is in a tricky position. Matrix67’s and his spouse’s blog has
been suspended for a long time. I guess it means that today is not the
same as yesterday, and life is very different from the impression of the
outside world.
When I was in
high school, I gave a failed speech on Matrix67.
